Vesterheim Vesterheim Magazine | History & Culture-Magazine Vol. 22 No. 1 – 2024 Journeys

Vesterheim is published twice a year, featuring in-depth articles focusing on the museum’s priceless collections of artifacts, Norwegian-American history and culture, and up-to-date information on all museum events, classes, tours, and education opportunities.

This issue’s theme is “Journeys,” and it features an article by previous Vesterheim editor, Charlie Langton, about the life of Astronaut Rick Hauck. Charlie worked directly with Rick to detail Rick’s life experiences and his deep connection to his Norwegian heritage. 

This issue also includes “For the Thrill of It,” the stories of ship voyages across the Atlantic from Norway to America by Norwegian writer Fredrik Kalstveit and a story about the life of American-Norwegian reporter Sigrid Schultz by historian and writer Pamela Toler.
